Lady Lions win Eureka Triangular meet, boys place third

EUREKA — The Eureka Lady Lions track team won a triangular meet Tuesday against Browning and Loyola.

Eureka scored 59 points and Browning and Loyola tied for second with 32 points each.

Eureka’s boys were third with 34 points, 28 points behind the winning Loyola.

Remmi Stanger of Eureka posted a personal best (14.71) in the 100, where she placed second and won the high jump with a 4-07.00, jump, just one inch off her personal best this season. Stanger’s 5-11.00 pole vault landed her in second place, as did her 56.88 time in the 300m hurdles.

Eureka’s Dana Melton posted personal bests in the 400 (1:20.49), 300m hurdles (59.86) and javelin (71-04). Melton was first in the javelin. Monroe Tornow won the shot put with a 18-03.00 throw.

Bella Webb’s 81-01 discus throw won the event and was the best of any Eureka girl this season.

Colter Cassaza placed second in the 100 — his 11.98 is the second-best mark in the event by a Eureka boy. The fastest time this year, set by Joshua Butts, is 11.61.

Butts bested his own 200 mark and won the event with a time of 23.45. Butts also won the long jump with a personal best (17-10.00).
