Whitefish native Bill Hill recently was diagnosed with Stage 4 chronic leukemia with a rare mutation of P17 Deletion (TD53). It will take advanced treatment in an attempt to better the outlook, as the rare mutation makes typical treatment generally ineffective.

Hill and his brothers, Gene and Joe Hill, are well-known in the community. Gene is the owner of Hill Brothers Automotive in Whitefish, and Bill has coached baseball and boxing for many years.

The Hill brothers have and continue, as did their parents, to volunteer countless hours in the Flathead. They support many local fundraisers, causes and sports programs around the valley. In 2008, The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce honored Bill, Gene, and Joe Hill with the Youth Activities Volunteers of the Year Award. An award that their parents, Rusty and JoAnn Hill, received decades earlier.

Bill and his wife, Brandy, have been told by their doctor that their health insurance won’t cover the necessary treatment required to get Bill's cancer into remission. Once in remission, Bill will need STEM cell treatment.

The family has put together a gofundme page for Bill to be able to aid in the cost of treatment. They plan on fundraising in the future as well. While they have raised near $25,000 in just 24 hours, that is just a small dent in the amount it will take to get Bill the appropriate treatment.
