Flathead falls to Skyview 34-7 in season opener

BILLINGS — Billings Skyview quarterback Dylan Goodell ran for three touchdowns and passed for another, and the Falcons led from the opening kickoff in a 34-7 win over Flathead in Class AA football Friday.

Trey Dye took the first kickoff 45 yards for a score to put the Falcons up 6-0, and the gap quickly grew to 20-0: Goodell fired a 20-yard scoring strike to Kailua Fatupaito, then added a 5-yard TD run before the game was 9 minutes old.

It was 34-0 at halftime. The Braves got on the board with 1:42 left, Jackson Walker finding Dylan Kratofil for 15 yards and a touchdown.

Walker threw for 122 yards and ran for 70 to lead the Flathead offense. Skyview piled up 203 rushing yards and controlled the clock. Paolo Salminen ran for 101 yards for the Falcons.

Chase Youso and Gabe Lake had 10 tackles each for Flathead, and Matthew Melby had a sack. TJ Hayek recovered a fumble for the Braves.

The Braves play their home opener this coming Friday against Bozeman Gallatin, at 7 p.m. at Legends Stadium.
