Braves soccer gets first win of season

Dakota Holmes scored on a late-game penalty kick to lead the Flathead Braves to their first win of the season, 1-0 over Missoula Big Sky on Tuesday.

Holmes scored in the 76th minute.

“We battled it out,” coach Zach Brenneman said. “Long hard game but we ended up taking care of it in the end. We definitely fixed some things from last week.”

The Braves (1-2) dropped both of its opening games last Friday and Saturday to Helena schools.

Goalkeeper Jonathan King was in net for the shutout and made five saves for Flathead.

Flathead’s Saturday game in Missoula against Hellgate has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 14.

The Bravettes’ game with the Eagles was postponed Tuesday. No date has been set for rescheduling it.
