Braves start 3-0 at Mining City Duals
BUTTE — The Flathead Brave Brawlers got off to a flying start at the Mining City Duals, winning three matchups on Friday.
“It was a solid performance to start the season,” Flathead coach Jeff Thompson said. “We felt like our boys really competed well and were on the attack for six minutes. We wrestled two teams that we just never see, so that was a plus.”
Flathead beat Missoula Big Sky 69-0, Browning 72-6 and Hamilton 72-3.
Probably the most impressive individual win came from Fin Nadeau at 145 pounds, who scored a 15-8 decision over Big Sky’s Israel Moreno, the defending 132-pound State AA champion.
“Dane Lake had a great match against Big Sky to start his high school career,” Thompson added of Flathead’s 126-pounder. “Davin Naldett is going to be a solid 103 pounder to get the momentum going each dual meet.”
The competition kicks up a level Saturday, when the Braves head into the championship bracket alongside AA powers Billings West and Billings Senior.
