GREAT FALLS — Glacier girls wrestling took third place and had six placers at the CMR Holiday Classic on Saturday.

There were 33 teams in the tournament and Glacier coach Ross Dankers considered that a “great step forward” for the program.

“Super proud of our girls today,” Dankers said. “Having six placers today without any seniors is just really exciting. These girls are getting better every week, and have made huge strides since the last state tournament.”

Royce Conklin was the lone boys placer for Glacier, placing sixth at 170 pounds. Conklin was pinned by Camden Johnson of Laurel in the 5th place match.

The Wolfpack was dealing with a banged-up squad heading into the tournament.

“We went into this tournament with a lineup not at full strength, and sometimes that’s hard momentum-wise,” Dankers said. “I feel like a number of guys are right on the cusp of breaking through into that next level, and the team had a great example in our one senior Royce Conklin who took sixth place today after missing out on most of his Junior year to an injury. We definitely have some great takeaways from this weekend.”
