POLSON — The Glacier Wolfpack girls swim team made a statement by winning the Missoula City Meet on Saturday by 100 points, an event held at the Mission Valley Aquatic Center in Polson.

Glacier scored 366 points to second place Helena’s 256. The Flathead girls were seventh with 148 points and the boys ninth.

“It was very tight on the boys side with only 12 points separating GHS from the winner, Missoula Hellgate and 4 points behind 2nd place finishers, Missoula Sentinel,” coach Karen Bouda said. "We did well despite missing two key varsity boys who would have scored in individual events and relays."

Flathead’s University of Utah commit Lily Milner was a double winner in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Both are events that Milner has won at the state meet the last two years.

Glacier’s top finishers were Madeline McGaughy, second in the 200 IM, Derek Smith, second in the 200 free, Drew Bouda, second in the 500 free, and Xander Stout, second in the 100 butterfly.

Stout was third in the 50 free.

Both girls teams dominated the relays, with Glacier finishing first and Flathead second

"The teams train together every night, so rather than the usual crosstown rivalry, we are really one big team,” Bouda said.
