Restaurant launches in reconfigured Stumptown Marketplace
The creators of Sweet Peaks Ice Cream and Wild Coffee Company are on to their newest endeavor: Stumptown, a new wine and food business in Whitefish’s Stumptown Marketplace.
Sam Dauenhauer and Marissa Keenan hosted their soft opening on Dec. 10.
Stumptown Marketplace has been reimagined from a multi-vendor hub into a ski-themed restaurant.
The multi-concept project involves a bottle shop with curated merchandise, as well as a lounge offering wine and beer. Food ranges from charcuterie boards to fried chicken and Stumptown french fries. The wine selection involves a variety of new labels from across the globe. Wine offerings will change with the seasons and guest requests.
Starting in January, the eatery will expand to include a weekend waffle brunch known as the Snowbunny, with espresso drinks, frozé — frozen rosé — and a multitude of champagne and mimosa options.
The lounge also features Whitefish’s first champagne ski, a champagne version of the shotski.
The couple described the atmosphere as “cozy and intriguing” in a press release. The decor is modern industrial with a warm and inviting atmosphere that includes custom tables and comfortable couches for lounging. The space is an ode to Whitefish’s mountain ski culture, with unique art installations built and imagined by Dauenhauer. The walls are also adorned with local photographs by Patrick Muri and local Whitefish family ski photos that span the decades.
As with other concepts created by Dauenhauer and Keenan, Stumptown is looking forward to collaborating and financially supporting local winter sport-focused nonprofits and other organizations such as Protect Our Winters.
In the future Stumptown hopes to host many local events including fundraisers, parties, ski movies and more.
Stumptown is located at 12 Spokane Ave. It will be open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday, with extended hours coming in the new year. The rest of the holiday schedule can be found on instagram @stumptownwinebar. For additional information please email: hello@stumptownwinebar.com
