Law roundup: No free ride for Bigfork man
A man in a Bigfork parking lot apparently called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to try to get a lift to his home. He was “advised he would not be getting a ride home” and instructed to only call 911 “if he has an emergency.”
A dog identified as a “German shepherd mix” showed up at a Kalispell business on U.S. 2 and jumped on customers for 20 minutes before its owner arrived to pick up the dog. By the time law enforcement arrived on the scene, the jumpy dog was gone.
Another dog attracted law enforcement’s attention when it ran across U.S. 2 in Columbia Falls from a gas station to a bar. The dog’s owner was called to pick it up.
A driver on Trumble Creek Road was pulled over, and then he called the Sheriff’s Office to try to get his ID returned to him. However, he could not be reached by phone when law enforcement tried to get back in touch with him.
Someone in Kalispell said he sold his vehicle, but left the license plates on it. Since the sale, he said he’s been receiving traffic tickets that the new owner has racked up. He wanted to know if there was anything he could do about the mix-up.
A concerned driver said she saw someone outside a car without a coat on. She told the dispatcher it was “unknown if he had a coat in the car.” It turned out the coatless person’s car had broken down.
An observant customer at a convenience store noticed a vehicle had parked in a handicapped space without a handicapped placard. The caller said he got into an argument with the driver, because he said it was not the first time he had seen the same vehicle park in that spot. He promised to take a picture and call law enforcement immediately the next time he noticed the infraction.
