Butte beats Glacier boys with 4th quarter surge
BUTTE — Butte’s Billy Kelly burned the Glacier Wolfpack for 19 points, and the Bulldogs used a fourth-quarter surge to take a 60-52 Western AA boys’ basketball win on Thursday.
Glacier scored the last six points of the first half to trail 30-26 and the first five points of the third quarter to briefly lead. Then the Bulldogs, who lost at Glacier 62-42 on Jan. 14, got back in front for good.
Up 44-42, Butte (4-4) held the Wolfpack (3-6) without a field goal for seven minutes of the fourth quarter to go up 57-45. Weston Price broke the surge with a basket off a feed from Ty Olsen; Price had 13 points, as did Jaxson Olsen.
Kelly and Blake Drakos (13 points) each came off the bench because of a violation of team rules. It was Butte’s first game since Jan. 30 because of a COVID quarantine.
Mikey O’Dell added 15 points for Butte.
