Libby man dies in U.S. 2 crash
A 57-year-old Libby man has died after driving off U.S. 2 and crashing early Thursday morning.
According to Montana Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Ford Aerostar west on U.S. 2 at mile marker 44.7 near Libby when it drove off the north shoulder for unknown reasons.
It drove 190 feet in a borrow pit before striking a tree.
The man was wearing a seatbelt.
Road conditions were described as icy.
Alcohol, drugs or speed were not suspected factors in the crash.
The man is the 23rd fatality on Montana roads in 2021.
