Gilliard’s 21 powers Vikings past Blue Hawks

THOMPSON FALLS — Bryce Gilliard scored 21 points and Cormac Benn added 15 as Bigfork won a District 7-B boys’ basketball showdown with Thompson Falls Saturday, 67-60.

Gilliard hit two 3-pointers and scored 14 points in the first half while the Vikings (11-2 overall, 7-1 in 7-B games) built a 38-31 lead. The victory avenged an 81-75 loss to Thompson Falls on Jan. 12 and leaves Bigfork alone at the top of the league standings.

Collin Wade added 10 points for the Vikings, five coming in the final quarter.

Justin Morgan hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points to lead the Blue Hawks (11-2, 6-2 in league). Kade Pardee checked in with 12 points for Thompson Falls and Nathan Schraeder added 11.

LIBBY — Colton Graham scored 19 points and the Polson Pirates stayed in command of the Northwest A boys’ basketball race.

Darian Williams and Xavier Fisher added seven points each for Polson (11-1 overall, 7-0 in league), which used two second-quarter threes from JC Steele to open up a 31-16 halftime lead.

Caden Williams scored 19 points to lead the Loggers (6-6, 4-5 in league). He was 8-for-14 on free throws. Jay Beagle added 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
