Foy’s Lake interchange construction to start March 1
The Montana Department of Transportation expects to begin construction of the new Foy’s Lake Road Interchange on the U.S. 93 bypass on March 1.
The department will host two virtual open houses via Zoom to go over project details with the public — one from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and another from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25.
The project team will review current plans for the interchange and answer questions during both open houses. Registration is required and can be accessed at https://www.mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/kalispellbypass/
The state plans to remove the existing roundabout connecting the U.S. 93 Alternate Route and Foy’s Lake Road, and replace it with a highway overpass and two smaller roundabouts serving as on and off ramps to the bypass.
“The goal of the Kalispell Bypass – Foy’s Lake Road Interchange project is to provide a safer and less congested intersection for the community,” a press release stated.
During the open houses, the project team will go over the construction plans and the schedule for traffic control.
“The open house will be the best opportunity for the public to learn about the project, refresh their memories on the design plan, review traffic control plans and provide feedback,” the press release stated. “Here, the project team will be able to answer questions and discuss what to expect throughout the construction process.”
“We understand that Foy’s Lake Road intersection is a heavily driven thoroughfare for the Kalispell community,” said Bob Vosen, Montana Department of Transportation Missoula District administrator. “We are looking forward to sharing design plans and traffic control details with the public so everyone can understand what to anticipate this year as we work to provide needed improvements."
Those who would like regular updates or cannot attend the open house can still provide feedback by contacting Becca MacLean at becca@bigskypublicrelations.com or by calling the project hotline at (406) 207-4484 during business hours.
