Smyley, Bulldogs beat Ronan on road

RONAN — Gracie Smyley scored 17 points and Whitefish made a strong first quarter hold up for a 43-30 Northwest A girls basketball win over Ronan Tuesday.

Ashton Ramsey added nine points for the Bulldogs (11-3 overall, 6-2 in league), who solidified their hold on second place in the Northwest A. Whitefish led 11-4 after one quarter and put the Maidens away with a strong second half.

Jaeleigh Gatch’s eight points led Ronan (9-5, 4-4 in league).

MISSOULA — The Loyola Sacred Heart Breakers rolled over the undermanned Bigfork Valkyries in a non-conference girls basketball game at the Ram Activity Center.

The District 6-B Breakers (13-3) used a 13-0 first-quarter run to lead 22-10 and had another 17-0 run in the second period. They rode 15 early points from Lani Walker and Kelsey Esh dropped in 13.

The District 7-B Valkyries (8-8) were without three starters but f15.reshman Callie Gambala came to play and pitched in 22 points.

LIBBY — Megan Baxter poured in 14 points for the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks in a 64-32 win over Class A foe, the Libby Lady Loggers.

The District 7B Blue Hawks (11-2) led 41-9 at the half.

Jody Detlaff and Faith Fields added 11 points each for Thompson Falls.

Libby (3-10) got 15 points from Rylee Boltz and four from Olivia Gilliam-Smith.
