Kalispell crash victim identified

Authorities released the name of a Kalispell man who died in a one-vehicle crash on Airport Road last Thursday as Todd Dowen, 59.

The cause of death is still under investigation Flathead County Sheriff and Coroner Brian Heino said.

According to Kalispell Police Department, officers responded to the scene after a call came in about the crash at 4:46 p.m.

Dowen was driving an SUV on the north end of Airport Road when the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a power pole, damaging it and causing power lines to fall on the vehicle, Kalispell Police Department Patrol Sergeant Andy Haag said. The downed power lines required Flathead Electric Cooperative to respond before officers could approach the vehicle. Dowen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
