Lions beat Trojans in Western B play-in game

EUREKA — Gavin Bates put up 25 points to help the Eureka Lions coast over the Troy Trojans 70-25 in a Western B play-in game Tuesday.

Eureka will play No. 3 seed Florence in the first round of the Western B divisional tournament, which will run Mar. 4-5 in Eureka.

Bates’ 25 points included five 3-pointers and two free throws. TJ Carr added 13 points, including three 3’s. Eureka had a total of 11 3-point makes in the game.

For Troy, Trevor Grant led with eight points, and Paxton Fisher and Malachi Montgomery each scored six.

Libby 59, Browning 39

LIBBY — Caden Williams led Libby over Browning 59-39 in a Western A play-in game Tuesday.

Williams scored 26, including six of nine free-throws and two 3-pointers. TJ Andersen added 12 for the Loggers and went 4-for-6 at the charity stripe.

The Western A divisional tournament begins Thursday in Butte, where No. 3 seed Libby (9-6 overall, 5-5 league) will play No. 2 southwest seed Frenchtown at 10 a.m.

For Browning, Maurice Redhorn led with 11 points. The Indians finished the season 4-10 overall and 2-8 in league play.
