Shayne C. Greenman, 66

Shayne C. Greenman, 66, of Kalispell, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, surrounded by family and love.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Peter Greenman, mother, Jean Clark, children Beecher Greenman (Irina), Jennifer MacDonald (Ross), and Julia Angibeau (Philippe), and grandchildren Lena, Ian, Emma, Lily, and Declan.

Shayne was born on Feb.17, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a devoted daughter to Ron and Jean Clark and sister to Michael. As the family moved with the Corps of Engineers, she attended school in Missouri, Kansas, Oregon and Montana and graduated from Libby High School in 1972. She attended Flathead Valley Community College, Wenatchee Valley Community College, and SUNY Buffalo. She worked for the U.S. Forest Service on the Yaak and in Troy.

Shayne married Peter Greenman on July 8, 1978, in Chelan, Washington. They spent their married life in Buffalo, New York; Olney, Maryland; Lacey, Washington; and Fairfax Station, Virginia before moving to Kalispell in 2007.

Shayne dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family and faith, raising her three children and five grandchildren with love, intelligence and strength. She felt that home was where the family was and was able to quickly re-establish our home wherever the U.S. Army and other professional moves took us. She was the director of the Junior Great Books reading enrichment program at Greenwood Elementary in Olney, Maryland, and also volunteered enthusiastically throughout the years for swim teams, school projects and events. A favorite family memory is her time spent as a guest chef at HEC 2003 at the Cornell Hotel School. She was an active member in her congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Fairfax, Virginia, and Kalispell. She was a valued career and relationship counselor and wedding planner for the family.

She had a magnetic personality, a strong sense of conviction, and an infectious laugh. She had a magic touch that made everything she did special. She was an avid reader, particularly of history. She also loved movies of all types. Other interests included boating on the Chesapeake Bay and Flathead Lake, bird watching, traveling, event planning, swing dancing, sewing and snowboarding. She collected small antiques and friends everywhere she went. People of all ages were drawn to her by her kindness, grace, easygoing sense of humor, and commonsense wisdom. Her courage and grace throughout her long battle with breast cancer was an inspiration to friends, family, and everyone she met along the way.
