Edward John Medwig, 84

| January 23, 2021 12:00 AM

Edward John Medwig, 84, of Kalispell, passed away on Dec. 8, 2020.

He was husband to Minnie for nearly 61 years, the father to Kevin, Cindy, Terry and Cheryl. He was grandfather to Jeremy, Brianna, Jordan, Brooklyn and Taylor and great-grandfather to Aubrey. He also leaves behind his sister, Patricia and brother, Michael.

Ed was the oldest child of John and Sophie, born, raised and schooled in St. Catharines, Ontario in Canada. He was very popular, the life of the party. He worked several jobs, loved to dance and had many hobbies and skills.

He married Minnie Ethel Marshall in 1960 at Saints Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church while working on an architectural degree from Ryerson Institute of Technology in Toronto. Ed and Minnie and their first two children moved to California in 1962 so he could pursue an architecture career and fulfill the promise he had made several years earlier.

“Eddie” was a passionate man and, despite being under six feet tall, he was always the most charismatic and captivating man in the room! He was a proud man with many dreams; he was an engaging storyteller and a tireless volunteer — especially with his devout faith in God at church and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He always worked hard to support his family and would always push for even more beyond that too. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. May he rest in God’s eternal peace.

Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 9 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Parish, 601 South Main Street in Kalispell.
