Ed Askelson, 62

| January 29, 2021 12:00 AM

Ed Askelson joined his Lord and heavenly family on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.

Ed was born to Ed and Eileen Askelson in Plentywood, Montana, on July 15, 1958. While in the Big Sky State, Ed was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. Those wilderness excursions often resulted in a chilly upper lip and Ed never parted with the robust, protective mustache he grew in those cold, craggy mountains.

In 1983, Ed accepted the two-for-one deal of a lifetime when he married the love of his life, Robin Gail, and got a free daughter thrown in — Jessica Elise.

In 1985, Ed, Robin and Jessica moved to Texas. Just one year later, they welcomed future-Aggie doctor and all-around poultry enthusiast Tyler Edward.

Ed loved iced tea without sugar, elaborate breakfast tacos, Aggie football, and pursuing excellence in real estate. He joined Prudential Owens Realty, now Berkshire Hathaway, in 1995.

When he wasn’t helping people secure their dream homes, Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, his friends, and his somewhat dramatic dogs. He was a history buff who devoured books of all kinds. He had a special affection for fantasy novels including J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic “Lord Of The Rings.” As for music, we’re not saying Ed ever liked The Bee Gees, but we’re not saying that Ed didn’t

ever like The Bee Gees either.

Ed loved the Lord, and his Glad Tidings Church Community, with all his heart. He enjoyed closing his eyes tightly to meditate during a service, not to be confused with napping, which Ed also liked, but never actually had the time to do.

If you look up “Dad Joke” in the dictionary, there’s a photo of Ed Askelson, mid-chuckle, reveling in his own clever wit. This is how he will be remembered and celebrated by those who survive him: Robin, Tyler, Jess, and his sisters Kim, Karen and Jan.
