Berreth’s double-double leads Vals over Breakers

BIGFORK — Emma Berreth’s double-double led the Bigfork Valkyries to a 54-37 upset win over the Loyola Sacred Heart Breakers on Saturday in nonconference Class B action.

Berreth scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds.

Leading by two at the half, the Valkyries came out swinging, outscoring Loyola 24-11 in the third frame.

Callie Martinz added nine points for the Valkyries and Callie Gambala scored eight.

Lani Walker paced Loyola with 12 points.

EUREKA — Katie Schmidt’s 15 points helped power the Eureka Lady Lions to a 55-49 win over the Mission Bulldogs in a District 7B game.

Kyla Bohne added 13 and Rhianna Hawkins 10, including six free-throws.

For Mission, Sydney Brander poured in 19 points.

LIBBY — Libby jumped out to an early lead and survived several surges from the Browning Indians to win 72-47 in Northwest A play.

Ryder Davis came up big for the Lions (4-5 overall, 2-4 conference) with 21 points. Caden Williams added 14, and Jay Beagle 10.

For Browning (3-5, 1-4), Braydes Vielle scored a team-high 10 points.

BIGFORK – Walker Fisher scored 15 points, five coming in a dominant second quarter that pushed Bigfork to the non-conference Class B basketball victory over Missoula Loyola Saturday.

Fisher hit a 3-pointer – one of three he had in the game – and two free throws as the Vikings (5-2) outscored the Rams 18-2 and opened up a 29-21 halftime lead.

Cormac Benn and Levi Taylor added 10 points each for Bigfork. Nick Walker hit two fourth-quarter threes for the Vikings.

Madison Morken scored four of her 14 points in the fourth period, and her teammates went 6-for-8 at the line in the frame to help Stillwater Christian hold off the Columbia Falls junior varsity.

Sophia Sulzbacher had eight rebounds to go with five points for Stillwater. Grace Gedlaman scored 13 points for the Wildkats.
