Norman Lee DeForrest, 82

Norman Lee DeForrest, 82, passed away on Jan. 20, 2021, at The HealthCenter in Kalispell.

Norman was born on Feb. 20, 1938, to Manuel and Georgia (Gorich) Silva in Oakland, California. After graduating high school, Norman joined the Cal State University in Hayward, California, where he earned his master’s degree in art history.

Norman spent time serving his country from 1956 to 1960 in the Supply Division of the United States Air Force. He also worked for the United States Parcel Service where he later retired from.

Norman was an active member of St. Matthew’s Church. He was the treasurer for St. Matthew’s Knights Of Columbus and he also sang with the choir. He also for a time sang with Valley Voices Choir. He loved attending and hosting church social functions.

Aside from his devoted interest in his church, he also loved to do little hobbies like landscaping and art. He was a talented artist who painted, sketched and would even mold ceramics.

Norman is survived by his sisters, Elsene King (California) and Shirley Nalty (Arizona), and four nephews and their families. He will be forever missed.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to either St. Matthew’s Catholic Church or the Veteran’s North West Food Pantry.
