Lakers A 1-1 at Harp tourney

Joey Thatcher’s 2-run single capped the Kalispell A Lakers’ 3-run first inning, sparking a 10-1 win over the Clark Fork Riverdogs B team Saturday at the Harp Memorial tournament at Archie Roe Field.

The Lakers (18-21) improved to 1-1 in the tournament, following a 14-2 setback to the Shadle Park Shockers late Friday. An 8 p.m. Saturday game against the Great Falls A Chargers had not ended at press time.

Aaron Crutsinger and Nic Gustafson hit back-to-back RBI triples in the fourth inning for the Lakers, and Asher Baines added a 2-run single in the fifth.

On the mound, Haiden Bunyea allowed one hit in five innings, along with four walks. He had one strikeout.

The Lakers were undone by eight errors and the Shadle Park Shockers’ offense, which included 10 hits and seven walks against three different pitchers.

The Spokane squad ended the game after five innings under the mercy rule.

Fletcher Postlewait and Kane Morisaki had the only Lakers’ hits; Adam Nikunen and Jackson Nelson scored their runs.
