Twins sweep Missoula A Mavs
WHITEFISH — Stevyn Andrachick’s RBI double created a little breathing room, and he ended up with three hits as the Glacier Twins’ beat the Missoula A Mavs 9-3 to complete a doubleheader sweep Wednesday.
Andrachick’s offense backed up his own pitching: He threw four innings, allowing five hits, a walk and two earned runs for the win. He struck out four.
Jacob Polumbus threw three scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and two walks. He fanned one.
The Twins (44-13) scraped out runs throughout the nightcap, with Danny Dunn and Hayden Meehan each driving in two. Dunn scored twice as well, as did Zach Veneman.
In the opener Veneman threw five solid innings and keyed a 3-run, sixth-inning rally with an RBI single as Glacier prevailed 4-1.
Hayden Meehan got the win in the first game with two innings of one-hit relief. Veneman threw the first five innings, giving up three hits and three walks. He fanned seven.
Veneman scored Glacier’s first run, hitting a double to lead off the second and coming in when Mikey Glass’ fly to center was misplayed for an error.
In the sixth the Mavericks committed two errors with one out, on a grounder by Taylor Bryan and a fly by Mason Peters — which scored Bryan with the go-ahead run. Veneman’s single, his third hit, made it 3-1; Glass followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Stevyn Andrachick, who’d walked.
