Sun Road open to hikers, bikers at Logan Pass
Hikers and bikers can now access the Going-to-the-Sun Road up to Logan Pass when road crews are not working, Glacier National Park announced Wednesday.
The road is open to hikers and cyclists after crews have finished working on weekdays, and all day on weekends.
"Be aware of local avalanche conditions," the park warned on Twitter.
The Sun Road previously was closed to hikers and bikers at the Loop. Park officials have said the road will remain closed to motor vehicles at Avalanche Creek until it's reopened at Logan Pass for the season, likely before July 1.
On May 13, rangers rescued two cyclists who were trapped by an avalanche on the Sun Road near the Triple Arches, roughly 2 miles from Logan Pass, park officials reported. Neither was injured.
