Lakers fall to Missoula Mavs AA

MISSOULA — It was a heart-breaking kind of day for the Kalispell Lakers AA on Sunday.

The Lakers led in both games of an American Legion baseball doubleheader with the host Missoula Mavericks AA.

They lost the first game, 7-6, on a walkoff single by Missoula’s Andrew Claussen. Kalispell led the second game 4-3 going into the bottom of the seventh. But Missoula tied it, then added another run in the bottom of the eighth. The game listed as unfinished by Gamechanger, however, so a final score was not available at press time.

The Lakers outhit in both games — 10-8 in the first and 9-7 in the second. Gage Brink was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the first, Thomas O’Connell was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Danny Kernan was 2-for-3 with a double.

O’Connell was 3-for-5 with a double in the second game and Joseph Schlegel had two RBI.
