Law roundup: Landowner isn’t interested in gold rush

| June 12, 2021 12:00 AM

In what seemed like an incident out of an old Western, a man complained to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that subjects were trespassing onto his land “to prospect for gold.”

A Hungry Horse man thought a grizzly bear got into his garage.

Someone wanted to report their vehicle as stolen after another driver took the vehicle and crashed it.

A wallet somehow appeared under a truck that hadn’t moved in three days. The truck driver found the wallet owner and returned it.

A man was reported for walking around behind some cars, carrying a bag. Despite this alarming behavior, the caller said he didn’t need contact from law enforcement about the issue.

Two people sat in a parked car for 45 minutes before someone called the sheriff’s office.

A driver saw a metal shelf on a road. The caller had previously reported another traffic hazard.

A man managed to park a vehicle at a location for a year without paying.

A woman said “incidents are happening” at a “popular party spot” on her road.

A California driver was reported to the Columbia Falls Police Department for running a red light. The woman denied the accusation, so an officer advised her “to be aware of her surroundings when in new locations and monitor local laws when traveling.”

Some people were stopped by law enforcement on Rose Crossing and they all got out of their vehicle, apparently because of “cultural confusion.” They were told to remain in the vehicle if they were stopped in the future.
