Twins 3-0 and counting at Lewistown tourney
LEWISTOWN — One nail-biter and two shutouts has the Glacier A Twins 3-0 at the Harold Gjerde Memorial legion baseball tournament, which continues Saturday and Sunday.
Zach Veneman drove in four runs and Danny Dunn and Mason Peters combined on a 5-inning 1-hitter as the Twins beat Mead, Wash., 13-0 for their third win in two days.
Earlier Friday Mason Peters capped a 3-run, fifth-inning outburst with an RBI single and Jake McIntyre drove in an important insurance run as the Glacier Twins edged Havre 9-8.
Late Thursday Glacier (23-8) shut out the host Lewistown Redbirds 8-0. They play Gallatin Valley at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Dunn, who allowed no hits through 3 1/3 innings, struck out five hitters; Peters fanned three.
Jacob Polumbus had three hits, including a double to help the offense. Peterson and Andrachick each scored three times.
Veneman got RBIs in the first (run-scoring grounder), second (2-run single) and fourth (bases-loaded walk) innings.
The Mead Panthers surrendered 10 hits and eight walks and hit four batters.

In Friday’s first game, McIntyre’s sacrifice fly scored Veneman, who’d hit a leadoff single, to put the Twins up 9-7. Peters’ single in the fifth came after the Northstars had claimed a 7-5 lead after four runs in the fourth. Peters drove in two runs.
Polumbus had three hits for Glacier; McIntyre and Hayden Meehan each scored twice, and Meehan got the win on the mound, throwing 2 1/3 innings of relief. Veneman recorded the last two outs for the save.

George Robbins and Meehan combined on a 2-hit shutout and Veneman tripled, homered and drove in four runs for the Twins on Thursday.
Veneman’s 3-run homer in the fourth put Glacier up 4-0; he tripled in Peters for the game’s first run, in the top of the first inning.
Robbins threw five innings and gave up both Redbird hits, and fanned four. Meehan, who also scored twice, threw two perfect innings of relief.
