AA Lakers split first 2 at WSU tournament
PULLMAN, Wash. — Gage Brink had two hits, drove in two runs and scored three times Thursday night as the Kalispell AA Lakers beat the Spokane Expos at the WSU Summer Palouse Tournament.
The Lakers (24-10-1) are 1-1 at the tournament, losing to the Washington Rush 12-0 in five innings on Friday. The tournament concludes Sunday.
Against the Expos Joe Schlegel drove in one first-inning run by getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and added a run-scoring groundout in the second.
Elijah Owens’ sacrifice fly in the fifth scored Ayden Driear and ended the game under the 8-run mercy rule. Expos pitchers issued nine walks and hit six batters.
Max Holden went all five innings on the hill for the Lakers, giving up three hits and one walk. He struck out four.
On Friday the Rush held the Lakers to two hits: singles by Brink and Kostya Hoffman.
Kalispell played Baden Baseball in a game that began at 7 p.m. Mountain Friday.
