Authorities ID Kalispell man who died in crash

Authorities have identified a Kalispell man who died in a traffic crash June 20.

According to Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino, Kyle Gardner, 31, died in a head-on crash on Montana 206 at about 12:55 a.m. on June 20.

The Montana Highway Patrol said Gardner was driving north in a Volkswagen Jetta when he failed to negotiate a right curve, crossed the center line and struck a Honda Accord driven by an 18-year-old man from Columbia Falls.

Both drivers were taken to Logan Health Medical Center for treatment. Gardner later died of injuries suffered in the crash.

According to Trooper Eric Thoreson, both drivers were wearing seat belts. He also reported drugs and alcohol were suspected factors in the crash.
