James F. Malone III, 77
James F. Malone III, Esq., 77, formerly of Pittsburgh (born in Stanton Heights), passed peacefully in Hobe Sound, Florida, on March 1, 2021.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet. He is a graduate of Shady Side Academy, the Pennsylvania State University, and received his law degree in 1969 from the University of Pittsburgh.
Jim is remembered as an honorable, intelligent and well-respected attorney in Allegheny County for more than 40 years before retiring and splitting his time between Florida and Montana. He was a former director and shareholder of Dickie, McCamey and Chilcote, P.C. before starting the law firm of Malone, Larchuk and Middleman, P.C. in Wexford, Pennsylvania. He served on the board of directors of PMA Insurance Company and was a former chairman of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
Jim was an accomplished golfer and was a member of the Oakmont Country Club, Oakmont, Pennsylvania, where he served on the board of governors and was the president from 1991 to 1995, during which time Oakmont hosted the 1992 Women's U.S. Open as well as the 1994 Men's U.S. Open where he served as chairman of both events. He was a current member of Loblolly Pines Golf Club and McArthur Golf Club, Hobe Sound, as well as Iron Horse Golf Club, Whitefish.
Cremation has taken place at the Aycock Funeral Home, Stuart, Florida.
Visitation and services are private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Northwest Montana, Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, Florida, or Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.
