Law roundup: Resident reports homeless migration
Someone calling from Somerset Drive in Kalispell reportedly told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office there seemed to be “an infiltration of homeless people walking the tracks” behind their residence. They didn’t need contact from law enforcement, just wanted deputies aware “they are migrating that direction.”
A man building a house on Harmony Road in Kalispell requested extra patrol in the area after a vehicle allegedly pulled in, and a woman started snooping around and peeking through the windows. When he confronted her, the woman said she wanted to buy the place.
A chubby female pug that wasn’t wearing a collar was found in the roadway on Old Highway 2 in Martin City and was later reunited with its owner.
A malamute allegedly got into someone’s pasture on McMannamy Draw in Kalispell and chased cattle that included a pregnant cow.
Someone calling from Coyote Meadow Trail had questions about shooting laws on private property.
A man on Middle Road has a bunch of cars he acquired over the years that he wanted to get rid of by taking them to a steel recycling center but was told he had to contact the sheriff’s office first. He requested to be contacted by phone and didn’t want any deputies coming onto his property. His questions were answered.
A concerned woman on Pine Valley Loop in Columbia Falls wanted to know what was going on when her home security system alerted her that a man wearing a green uniform and a badge came to her door at night, took a picture and walked away. She was informed the sheriff’s office didn’t have any deputies checking out the area at that time and provided her with the phone number to Montana Highway Patrol. Montana Highway Patrol reportedly advised it wasn’t a trooper or a Fish & Game unit that went to her house, either.
A counterfeit $100 was used on Montana 209 in Bigfork.
Someone reportedly was following and taking pictures of a man as he left work and started driving away on Montana 35 in Kalispell. The man pulled over and the vehicle following him drove by.
A Badrock Drive resident in Columbia Falls was suspicious of a car she saw parked at the end of the driveway and a woman walking on her property. When she yelled out to the woman if she could offer help, the woman claimed she was looking for a gas station. The resident was advised there were multiple reports about the woman, who reportedly had been arrested.
A man with pink hair, who was holding stuffed animals, reportedly started banging on a woman’s door and ringing the doorbell, trying to get into a home on Darlene Road. The woman told the Columbia Falls Police Department he then got into a blue SUV and left, but came back, walked around her vehicle and went back to her door and started banging on it.
A kid on a dirt bike was riding recklessly on Diane Road and even went down the hallway of an apartment complex.
A verbal disturbance was reported on Terrace Drive by a man who said it seemed to be escalating, that he had to go, and hung up.
A customer allegedly was causing issues at a Nucleus Avenue business.
Officers put a 24-hour notice on an abandoned camper on First Avenue.
