Facility meetings set at Smith Valley School

Smith Valley School invites community members to attend facility planning meetings scheduled on Monday.

According to Smith Valley Principal Laili Komenda, the K-8 school is at capacity and the focus of the meetings will be to explore options and brainstorm ideas on how to resolve the issue.

"We have been struggling and juggling to work with inadequate space for several years," Komenda said in a press release.

In 2017, a $6 million bond issue to expand the school was rejected by voters.

Jackola Engineering will help facilitate the meetings, provide background, share data and answer questions.

In-person meetings will be held at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Space is limited to 50 people at each meeting. People who are planning to attend should plan to wear a mask.
