Joyce Broeder Admire, 78

| March 16, 2021 12:00 AM

Joyce passed away March 12, 2021.

She was born in Kalispell to Fred and Hilda (Yurman) Broeder on Feb. 23, 1943. Though her mother died when Joyce was just 8, she was lucky enough to be raised by a second mother, Ruth (Crail) Broeder.

She was raised and attended grade school in Creston. After graduating from Flathead County High School in 1961, she went on to receive a teaching degree at Montana State University. Shortly after, she moved to the Portland area where she spent the rest of her life. She taught school there until the birth of her children. After that she substituted for several years along with various other jobs.

She had a very active and happy childhood with a love of the outdoors, gardening and swimming, which continued her entire life. She was a devoted Christian and attended Willamette Christian with a very loving church family.

She always made a trip back to Montana every summer with her kids to spend time with her family at the family cabin on Echo Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents and ex-husband Marvin Admire.

She is survived by her children, Sean (Jennifer), Melanie (Kent) Nelson, and Josh; and three granddaughters, Isabelle, August and Genevieve. She is also survived by siblings, Judy Allen, Linda Paulson, Debi Holguin and Fred Broeder, all of Kalispell.

A memorial service will be held later this summer.
