No. 27656 Request for Public Comment Stovepipe Project USDA Forest Service Flathead National Forest Tally Lake Ranger District Flathead County, Montana The Tally Lake Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest has released an environmental assessment for the Stovepipe Project and invites comments. The project is located northwest of Kalispell, Montana. The project includes activities that reduce hazardous fuels in the wildland urban interface (WUI), improve forest stand conditions, and provide commercial wood products to the local economy. The environmental assessment provides additional details on the project's purpose and proposed activities. The environmental assessment, along with other project documents, is available online at https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=58217 Comments will be accepted for thirty days following the publication of the legal notice in the newspaper of record, the Daily Inter Lake. The publication date in the newspaper of record is the exclusive means for calculating the comment period. The regulations prohibit extending the length of the comment period. Specific written comments that are within the scope of the project, have a direct relationship to the project, and include supporting reasons for the responsible official to consider are encouraged (36 CFR 218.2).
