Running amok

I used to be proud to say I was from the state of Montana when I could tell people that we were conservative but we had common sense and did what was best for all Montanans.

That is no longer the case. The Republican led Legislature is running amok forcing their right-winged, fascist ideals on all of the residents of Montana. I have contacted several members of the Legislature, but it doesn’t seem to matter. Their minds are already made up and they are not interested in hearing anyone’s viewpoint unless it coincides with theirs.

Republicans state they believe in small government, but when they introduce laws that restrict the right for a woman to determine how she wants to deal with reproduction issues, prohibits local health departments from dealing with their community health issues, restrict institutions from determining where firearms are allowed, restrict how parents treat their children’s sexual orientation issues, dictate that businesses cannot restrict employment due to the lack of getting vaccinated, and determine what topics can be taught in our schools, how can they say this is small government? Every one of the laws mentioned above restricts one of our individual or societal freedoms!

In addition to this, many of these same lawmakers don’t believe in the science of global warming, claim that the mainstream media is fake news, and still believe that Trump won the election even though there is absolutely no evidence to support such absurd statements. It appears to me our Republican Legislature wants to keep us, the citizens, from making intelligent, informed decisions on our own, and, instead, force their ideology upon us with the expectation for us to follow them like sheep. Can it get any worse?

Equal justice

Funny how the governor walks away with an illegal wolf kill. You or I would be walking into federal court!

Where is equality in justice?

Our man, Joe

The cardboard presence of Mr. Biden, now enthroned in the orifice office, is a fascinating study in govern “mental” management at its best. At a far cheaper price than a rebuilt infrastructure, or revamped military, our man, Joe, is goose stepping his way into the annals of history. With a mere stroke of a leaky Chinese pen, vast landscapes will spring into green, as the XL pipeline becomes an extinct poisonous viper sprawled across two borders. Folks, wrapped in discarded army surplus blankets, can now sit on their rockers, cold, shaking hands clutching Chinese coffee mugs, and shiver their way in ecstasy at the fresh new world about them.

And as for borders, our sly old fox, whose greatest health risk is carpal tunnel, has scrawled his John Henry on another fine document, too. A sea of somber faces, yearning for free, now, once again in familiar masses, cross our doorstep. The U.S., with a two century history of oppressing other nations and neglecting the needs of the near and far will finally soothe a guilty conscience. Set our morality straight. Be able to look into the mirror with a semblance of dignity. The burgeoning elite class, imprisoned behind ivy-graced, gated communities, will swell with pride, knowing they have opened the floodgates to paradise for the unfortunate friends from the south. Employ, feed, medicate, counsel, house, and redistribute equitably. Such is their noble goal.

We should all search fervently for a flapping Old Glory out there and pull it tenderly to our breasts. If any are available on EBay. Soon to be collectors’ items, escapees from BLM and antifa flames.

Take heart! Another round of Monopoly money is coming. Tell the Treasury Department your favorite color is orange.

No choice

I am over 80 years old and was around when there was no choice. You folks do not seem to think about what happens to a person’s life when there is no choice. Does that life not matter? Does that life have no worth?

Example: I knew a little girl who was 11 or 12 years old when she got pregnant. It must have been because of some kind of abuse since she had no interest in boys. She had just finished the fourth grade and was hoping she had passed math so she would be in fifth grade when she went back to school. She was a small girl. This was in 1954. I can’t imagine the damage that was done to her both physically and mentally. I don’t know what happened, but back then she probably went back home to the same place where it happened, maybe with the baby.

An abortion should be a medical decision. As I asked above, why doesn’t that life matter to the pro life people?

Democratic Party

Your letter to the Daily Inter Lake the “Beginning of the End” is spot on, Mr. Tetachuk. Thank you. I wonder how long it is going to take the Democrats to realize the party is no longer the party of their grandad or their dad.
