Bravettes’ rallies come up short vs. Helena schools

The Flathead Bravettes had some rallies but couldn’t quite close the gaps with Helena Capital and Helena High Saturday, dropping a pair of Western AA softball games at Kidsports.

Errors helped Capital take command of the first game, before the Bruins held on for a 7-6 win over Flathead.

In the second game Helena High surged to an 8-1 lead and won 8-5.

“We’re getting close,” Flathead coach Jack Foster said. “We’ve just got to figure out how to finish. Both games we had a chance to win in the seventh. We just have to figure out how to get over the hump.

We’re playing real competitive with everybody now. We’ve definitely gotten better as the season’s gone on.”

A 3-run rally in the bottom of the seventh brought Flathead back in the first game, with Kyrah Farrington’s RBI base hit scoring Kaidyn Lake and cutting the gap to 7-6.

The tying run was on third but Capital, which used three Flathead errors to go up 3-2 in the fourth inning, stranded her there.

Breanna Morales had two hits in the first game for the Bravettes.

In the second game Flathead (2-11 overall, 2-8 in league) put together a four-ruin rally in the fifth inning to close to 6-5; an RBI double by Macy Craver and RBI singles from Ilyssa Centner and Laynee Vesser were the key hits.

Helena High got a 2-run homer from Richardson to cap the scoring in the sith.
