Twins earn split with Belgrade

WHITEFISH - George Robbins threw a four-hitter as the Glacier Twins beat Belgrade 6-2 to earn a split of their Class A American Legion doubleheader Sunday.

Belgrade won the first game, 7-4

In the nightcap, Robbins struck out six Bandits and allowed just one earned run. The Twins clinched it with a five-run sixth-inning, capped by Taylor Bryan’s two-run single.

In the opener Belgrade center fielder Alex Casas’ RBI double broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning and started a 3-run rally.

That came just a half-inning after Bryan hit a two-run single that pulled the Twins into a 4-4 tie.

Late Saturday the Twins beat the Butte Miners 9-4 to complete a doubleheader sweep. They went 3-1 on the weekend.

Saturday

Jacob Polumbus twice stole home as part of a double steal and scored four runs in Glacier’s 9-4 win over Butte, completing a doubleheader sweep of the Miners.

George Robbins drove in two for the Twins, including an RBI single in a 2-run fourth inning that answered the Miners’ two runs in their half.

Mason Peters scored twice and Styven Andrachick had a triple among his two hits and scored twice as well.

Taylor Bryan threw five strong innings of relief and got the win for Glacier. He allowed five hits, two unearned runs and struck out four.
