Cooke, Viau lead Glacier over Hellgate

Emma Cooke and Avalon Viau combined for five hits and eight runs batted in, and Glacier downed Missoula Hellgate 13-2 Thursday in a mercy rule-shortened Western AA softball game.

The visiting Knights, 0-15 overall and 0-11 in league, managed four hits against the Wolfpack pitching tandem of Ella Farrell and Kenadie Goudette.

Farrell gave up three hits and three walks, striking out eight. Goudette gave up one hit and one walk and fanned four.

Cooke, meanwhile, rapped two doubles and drove in four runs. She had three hits and Viau had a double among her two hits, and also drove in four.

Sammie Labrum added a triple among her two hits; she scored three times.

Glacier (15-2, 8-2 in league) had 10 hits total, to go with nine walks and a hit batter issued by Hellgate pitching.

The Wolfpack plays at Class A power Frenchtown Saturday at 2 p.m., and then returns home for a crosstown game against Flathead Thursday.
