Permit sought for wine and beer bar at former Stumptown Marketplace
The Whitefish Planning Board on Thursday will hold a public hearing to consider a request from Spilled Milk LLC and Marissa Keenan for a conditional-use permit to develop a bar selling beer and wine in the former Stumptown Marketplace at 12 Spokane Ave.
Keenan is asking for the permit to develop a beer and wine bar associated with a new restaurant in the building, according to the Whitefish Planning Office staff report. Although food is being served the liquor license is not a “restaurant beer and wine” license, which is exempt from conditional-use permit requirements, the report noted. The owners instead obtained a 301 type license for retail on-premises beer and wine, which is not exempt from permit requirements.
The facility would use the existing outdoor patio seating area in the alley for customers, and would feature retail package sales of beer and wine, according to the staff report.
IN OTHER business, the board will hold public hearings on two conditional-use permit requests for accessory apartments. Brian and Mariah Joos are asking for a permit to build an accessory apartment associated with a new single-family home at 312 Kalispell Ave. Paul Preston is seeking a permit for an apartment above a new two-car garage at 41 Kalispell Ave.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Thursday via Webex video conferencing. Go to the city website for instructions on how to attend the meeting online.
