Bigfork sweeps Western B track

MISSOULA — On a bright Saturday at MCPS Stadium, Bigfork ran and jumped away with two divisional titles.

The Vikings won four individual events and piled up 167 points to 74 for Missoula Loyola and Eureka; the Valkyries won three events but ran up 201 points, a testament to their depth.

Thompson Falls’ girls were second with 91 and Eureka was next at 60.

Eureka’s Taylor Lancaster followed up her two distance wins from Friday with a victory in the 1,600 Saturday.

Mission’s Sydney Brander added a second jumping win, taking the triple jump Saturday, to a sweep of the 100 and 200 sprints; Thompson Falls’ Chesney Lowe added a win in the javelin to her victory in Friday’s pole vault.

Bigfork got points everywhere, including wins from Ashlyn Savik in the 100 hurdles and Scout Nadeau in the shot put. The Vals’ quartet of Audrey Benz, Chloe Raats, Coralyn Shillam and Afton Lambrecht) also won the long relay in 4:16.30.

Eureka’s Remmi Stanger cleared 5 feet, 2 inches to win the high jump.

Bigfork’s boys title was led by victories from Isak Epperly in the 110 hurdles, Jordan Betts in the 300 hurdles, Wyatt Duke in the high jump and Levi Peterson in the triple jump.

Duke and Betts ran 2-3 behind Epperly in the high hurdles; Epperly has the fifth-fastest time in Class B, 15.86.

Cormac Benn was second to Duke in the high jump and second to Peterson in the triple.

Missoula Loyola’s Ridger Palma completed a sprint sweep with wins in the 100 and 200, and his time in the 100 (11.29) sits only behind Bigfork’s Joseph Farrier in Class B. Farrier was fourth in the race Saturday.

Justin Morgan of Thompson Falls added a win in the 1,600 to his 3,200 victory from Friday (his 9:49.61 leads Class B).

Eureka’s Joseph Kindel won the javelin.

The teams and their qualifiers finish the season Friday and Saturday at the State B meet in Laurel.
