WTC presents the fresh comedy ‘The Siegel’

| November 4, 2021 12:00 AM

The Whitefish Theatre Co. presents its second Black Curtain theatre production of the 2021-2022 season with “The Siegel” by Michael Mitnick at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish, with performances at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7. Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, masks are highly recommended and greatly appreciated when attending this show.

Ethan Siegel is in love with Alice. And tonight he’s going to ask her parents for permission to marry her. There are just a few problems — Ethan and Alice broke up two years ago, she’s in a serious relationship with someone else, and Alice has completely moved on with her life. But Ethan is undaunted in his pursuit, aiming to win over Alice in myriad ways to convince her that she is “the one.”

Emulating Chekhov’s themes of ideal love and destiny, “The Siegel” is a fresh, irresistible comedy about modern love and the need to go back in order to move forward.

“Our Black Curtain theatre productions are about exploration for both actors and audience,” director Gail Cleveland said. “Actors have scripts in hand and rehearsal time is short, but it is so rewarding to dive into humane plays like ‘The Siegel.’ The play looks at who we end up sharing our life with. Is there one special person we should be with? Are there 50 that would do? How do we choose? What is the right choice? Using spirited and wacky dialogue, the characters raise these questions, hoping for a definitive answer.”

Cast members include Matt Strool as Ethan, Amy Galt as Alice, Charlie Covey as Nelson, Todd Clear as Ron, Tery Solomon as Deborah, and Brooklynn Pitts as Jordan.

As a Black Curtain production, there will be minimal staging, set and props and actors will be reading from a script.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students for all shows and can be purchased at the box office at 1 Central Ave. in Whitefish or by calling 406-862-5371.
