Law roundup: Bears and garbage still a problem in Whitefish

Someone called the Whitefish Police Department after a bear got into a neighbor’s garbage and dragged it onto a neighbor’s property. The caller said the neighbor wasn’t putting the garbage away and she wanted them to clean up the mess.

Another caller reported a bear walking north on U.S. 93.

Someone reported a Chevy pickup truck with an extended cab was weaving all over the road as it drove south on Baker Ave.

A woman called the police to thank them for keeping the area safe after a car entered her driveway and left when she turned on the light.

Someone said her daughter was being threatened at school and wanted an officer to speak to the child because she was having issues with the mask mandate. When an officer spoke to the child’s mother, she said her daughter was coming home with headaches and complaining about breathing issues. The caller was advised to speak to the school board about the issue to find a solution.

A city employee accidentally dialed the emergency digits.

A builder asked for police to do a walk-through of a property he is constructing because he believed someone was staying there at night. Further investigation revealed nothing.

Someone reported a woman was beating a man with a tire iron. Both had warrants for their respective arrests and the woman said she became violent because the car they are living in had no heat.

The police were called when a passerby saw a very young child sleeping in a car with a cracker in his mouth. She was concerned with the boy possibly choking. The mother was paged and she later got back with her child.

A woman called 911 after she was awakened by headlights in her window. She thought it was just a vehicle turning around.

Someone said a bunch of crates were scattered in the road near a building supply store. When an officer arrived, the debris had been removed.
