Foy's Lake interchange completed on U.S. 93 bypass
The Montana Department of Transportation on Tuesday announced the completion of the majority of construction on the new Foy’s Lake Road Interchange on the U.S. 93 bypass.
This year, crews replaced the original roundabout with a full interchange consisting of an overpass and ramps connected to two teardrop-shaped roundabouts. LHC Construction crews have now wrapped up construction in preparation for final chip-sealing and road line painting in 2022.
“We are incredibly grateful for the community’s patience this past construction season,” Kalispell District Administrator Bob Vosen said. “We are looking forward to drivers experiencing the roadway and thank them for their understanding in advance as we return to put the finishing touches on the project next year.”
LHC partnered with the state and KLJ Engineering to remove the existing roundabout at Foy’s Lake Road. Crews first worked to complete the two teardrop-shaped roundabouts and later finished the overpass.
In 2022, crews will return to finish road work including paving a top layer of asphalt known as the chip seal, and painting final road lines to complete the driving surface. They will also work on streambank restoration at the Ashley Creek bridge just north of the new interchange.
