Montana West Economic Development is launching a new cohort of PeerSpectives, a unique business development initiative.

PeerSpectives is a roundtable system designed especially for leaders of second-stage companies.

In PeerSpectives, eight to 12 business executives participate in roundtable discussions where they share their experiences and challenges.

“Confidentiality is crucial,” states Montana West’s webpage for the program.

CEOs of second-stage companies — typically organizations with annual sales of more than $1 million and 10 employees or more — make up the bulk of the PeerSpectives cohort. Spaces are limited, and the new cohort will start at the end of January.

According to MWED, “PeerSpectives benefits business leaders who are looking for more dedicated time to work on their business and improve their decision-making through support and connection with other dedicated entrepreneurs.”

PeerSpectives is carefully structured in a way that “releases the group genius.” The focus of discussions centers on sharing experiences, rather than giving advice. Participants come from non-competing industries, and they’re guided through the program by trained facilitators. There’s also a structured protocol “that ensures balanced discussion.”

Discussions are held monthly, usually lasting two to three hours at a time.

The initiative offers benefits such as “the ability to discuss sensitive business challenges with peers who know what you’re going through” and “just-in-time solutions you can put into practice the same day.”

“PeerSpectives is hands-down one of the best resources I’ve found as a CEO in a small market,” said Courtenay Sprunger, CEO of Big Sky Public Relations. “The insights I’ve gained from my PeerSpectives group are timely, relevant, and reassuring. It’s a safe place to ask the questions you can’t ask employees or friendly competitors. That, and I’ve met some amazing people in the group who I now count as good friends.”
