Prep soccer: Ells, Elliott lead Glacier boys

Sam Ells scored two goals and made one assist, and Zane Elliott had one goal and two assists as the Glacier Wolfpack swamped Missoula Big Sky 8-1 Thursday in Western AA boys soccer.

Harrison Sanders added a goal and an assist for Glacier (8-1-0), which outshot the Eagles 18-2 on the Wolfpack’s home field.

John Pyron and Jake Ritzdorf each scored, supplying the assist an each other's goal. Davis Rennie and Joey Paolini had goals as well. Paolini and Elliott lead the Pack with eight goals each.

Big Sky fell to 1-10.

Glacier will play at Missoula Hellgate Saturday in a battle of the Western AA’s top two teams.

MISSOULA — Cameron Newbold, Brady Reed and Henry Pierce each had two goals as the Knights improved to 8-0-1.

WHITEFISH — Chase Sabin and Elijah Adams-Griffin scored two goals each, and Whitefish picked up another Northwest A boys’ soccer victory.

Austin Gunset and Gabe Menicke also found the net for the Bulldogs (9-0, 5-0 in league); Menicke assisted on the first three goals, all of them coming in the first 10 minutes of action.

The Bulldogs outshot the Loggers (0-9, 0-5) 17-2.

GIRLS

Glacier 6, Big Sky 0

Glacier got two goals from Reagan Brisendine and won its second game in a row, beating Western AA foe Big Sky 6-0.

Big Sky previously triumphed 7-0 in the teams first meeting of the season but Glacier turned the tables on the Eagles this time around.

The Wolfpack led 4-0 at the half from goals by Brisendine, Cadence Murcray and Karys Camp. Brisendine added an assist on Camp’s goal.

“The first half was phenomenal,” first-year coach Damion Blackburn said. “The style of play, how we controlled the game from start to finish… The first half was not our best performance but very close to it.”

Glacier improves to 5-4; Big Sky falls to 3-6-1.

WHITEFISH — Olivia Genovese’s hat trick helped the Whitefish Bulldogs rout the Libby Loggers 10-9 for their ninth win of the season.

The Bulldogs are tops in Northwest A at 9-0 overall and 5-0 in league.

Brooke Roberts and Emma Barron each scored twice, and freshmen Sadie Olson and Delaney Smith added goals. Sofie Saurey also scored.

MISSOULA — The Missoula Hellgate girls posted the road win over Flathead Thursday, getting two goals each from. Carmen Anderson, Chloe Anderson and Lucia Baker.

Carmen Anderson added three assists. Gabby Beaton, Ashley Young and Alix Mund also scored. Keeper Nova Gardner made two saves for the Knights.
