Eureka holds off Bigfork, 14-13
EUREKA — Eureka got touchdown runs from Caleb Utter and Remington Little and held onto a 14-13 key Western B football win Friday.
It was the first loss of the season for the Vikings (6-1 overall, 3-1 in league), who drew to 14-13 on Patrick Wallen’s short scoring run with 6:35 left in the game. But Wallen and Joseph Farrier couldn’t connect on the conversion pass, and the Lions (6-2, 3-1) held on.
Utter ran 19 times for 81 yards for Eureka, including a 2-yard touchdown that made it 7-0. He was 4-for-7 passing for 42 yards, and triggered an offense that converted 6 of 13 third downs compared to Bigfork’s 1 of 8. That helped the Lions control the ball for 30 of the 48 minutes.
Little ran 25 times for 65 yards and had a 3-yard scoring run in the third quarter. Danny Dunn hit both his PAT kicks for the Lions.
Wallen was 9-for-16 passing for 104 yards, including a 28-yard scoring strike to Nick Walker. Wallen ran for 34 yards; George Bucklin had eight carries for 46 yards for the Vikings, and Levi Taylor had six for 42. Bigfork won the yardage battle, 267-208.
