Law roundup: No good deed goes unpunished
After a woman reportedly took a dog she found to the shelter, a man called her and “made nasty comments and sent rude text messages.” She wanted the Kalispell Police Department to call her to find out what information he might get about her from the shelter and learn what her options were in how to move forward with the harassment.
A neighborhood busybody was suspicious of youths who parked in an alley behind a church and played loud music. She was worried they might be “planning something mischievous.”
People were surprised by an older woman with black hair in pigtails who just walked inside their house asking for a ride, but no one knew her. She moved on, walking through other yards and knocking on windows.
Another woman, maybe a runaway bride, who was reportedly wearing a black coat over a white wedding dress was yelling at customers asking for a ride. She went outside when asked to leave but didn’t stop bothering customers and the manager wanted her moved along.
A white truck full of people was spotted driving in reverse in the southbound lane on U.S. 93.
A woman’s boyfriend’s nephew was allegedly being chased by three vehicles on the bypass.
Someone calling from a front desk reportedly could hear a man and a woman screaming at each other and things being thrown.
Officers received a report about a man going to a house, knocking and leaving and then going into people’s cars. He was warned again about his behavior and went on his way.
Customers complained a woman wearing gray sweatpants was in a parking lot checking door handles.
A woman allegedly grabbed someone and tried to take them down.
Someone told officers $33 and a phone was stolen from her husband at a store and the suspect was caught on video surveillance. She said she went to the person’s house to retrieve the property and a man said he didn’t know what she was talking about.
A man carrying a flashlight and walking on East California Street after 8 p.m., made someone suspicious enough to call the police. He told officers he was fine and was using the flashlight to see in the dark.
A hotel front desk employee wanted officers to move along a girl and two boys who were hanging around the building when they didn’t leave after being asked.
Someone reported a large black garbage bag was sitting in the center of northbound lanes. It wasn’t a hazard for much longer when the bag, which contained leaves, was hit by a car.
