Glacier Symphony kicks off its 39th season this weekend
The Glacier Symphony will perform its initial MasterWorks concert of the season titled “Ascension” Oct. 30 and 31. The concert features music from the 19th to 21st centuries.
The opening 21st century composition celebrates the 25th anniversary of Maestro John Zoltek as Glacier Symphony and Chorale’s music director and conductor. The orchestra will perform his symphonic poem “Processional,” one of many Zoltek pieces to be featured this season.
Russian-American violinist Yevgeny Kutik joins the symphony orchestra for a performance of the 20th century violin masterpiece “Violin Concerto in A Minor” by Russian composer Alexander Glazunov. Popular with Northwest Montana audiences, Kutik has appeared twice with the Glacier Symphony during past seasons of Festival Amadeus.
The 19th century piece is Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D Major,” often referred to as the composer’s “Pastoral Symphony.”
Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at the Flathead High School Performance Hall.
Patrons are highly encouraged to wear a mask in all areas of the concert venue. Staff and volunteers will be masked.
