Hellgate teams trip Glacier
Just when it seemed like the Glacier Wolfpack got on a roll, the final whistle blew. Time had run out for the home team against visitor Missoula Hellgate, who won 3-2 Thursday at Glacier High School.
Glacier’s second-half comeback attempt started with Zane Elliott’s goal in the 60th minute, and Davis Rennie kept things going when he scored in the 74th, assisted by Elliott.
“We really seem to come on in the latter stages of the match,” Glacier coach Ryan Billiet said. “ We had some really good energy coming from the bench. It seemed like we were in a really good place and the whistle blew and the game ended.”
Hellgate had goals from Solan Grillo, Jake Adams and Cameron McNeils.
Billiet called the game a good learning experience for the Wolfpack, who won its first two games.
“A really good match against a great team,” Billiet said. “It’s good to have this opportunity early — now we know what we need to work on. It’s just a really good early test.”
Glacier (2-1) is off until next Thursday. Saturday’s game at Missoula Big Sky was cancelled and rescheduled for Sept. 14.

Reagan Brisendine scored two goals and Calista Wroble added one but the Glacier Wolfpack fell to Missoula Hellgate 5-3 on Thursday.
Both of Brisendine’s goals came in the first half and Glacier (1-2) trailed by one at the half.
“We’re a young group but we’re not using that as an excuse,” first-year coach Damion Blackburn said. “When you want to play how we want to play, mistakes will be made. Hellgate punished us on a few of those.”
Wroble, who assisted on Brisendine’s second goal, tied the game 3-3 but that’s as close as the Pack got to the Knights. Hellgate scored 90 seconds later and led the rest of the game.
“Tough lessons but the team’s growing and what we put into it was pretty good,” Blackburn said.
Glacier’s game at Big Sky today was cancelled due to Covid issues with the Missoula team and is rescheduled for Sept. 14.
