C-Falls splits with Laurel, Whitefish girls beat Corvallis
COLUMBIA FALLS — The Columbia Falls Wildcats’ offense had another strong showing Saturday, beating Laurel 6-1 in a non-conference Class A soccer game.
Findley Sundberg scored a hat trick and had an assist, and Kai Golan had two goals and two assists.
“It was a special day for us,” coach O’Brien Byrd said. “It was the best and most exciting brand of soccer of any Wildcat team I’ve ever seen on that field. It was a great day.”
Noah Michaelson gave Laurel a 1-0 lead at the 16th minute, but Sundberg quickly scored the equalizer and the Wildcats (2-0-1) offense kept rolling.
Max Everett and Sundberg added goals to make it 3-0 by the end of the first half. Sundberg scored one and Golan two goals in the second half.
Byrd still sees room for improvement, though.
“We’re still looking to continue to work on our finishing but we have some really good building blocks for the season,” Byrd said.
